Staying close to Wenceslas Square in a Prague apartment from Loving Prague

One of the most frequently asked for locations for an apartment in Central Prague is Wenceslas Square. Sometimes this is because it is simply one of Prague's most well known destinations, other times it is because the guests know what a fabulously varied area this is. It is a different place during the day than it is at night and it does offer something for everyone.

In Czech it is called Vaclavske namesti, this huge rectangular "Square" was originally a horse market. Throughout the ages it has been a focal point for demonstrations and political upheaval. Now a more peaceful area, it still offers much for the tourist. The buildings on Wenceslas Square are restaurants, hotels such as the art decor Hotel Europa, stores such as Marks and Spencer (yes the famous British brand), bars, casinos, such as the Ambassador Casino and offices, and of course apartments.

Loving Prague has over one hundred self catering apartments actually located on Wenceslas Square and many more on the streets close to it. As it is a lively, buzzy area it does tend to be groups of young people who choose to stay on Wenceslas Square, families tend to choose an apartment located a couple of streets away. All of the convenience and less of the buzz at night.

At key times of the year such as Chistmas and New Year Wenceslas Square really excells as a spectacular place to be with enormous Christmas Trees, a wonderful Christmas Market and lots to see and do. Look out for the large buckets full of a fish similar to Carp which the Czechs eat for their Christmas meal. At all times of the year, Wenceslas Square is a little bit brash, bold and enormous fun.
